Story:
These earrings were inspired by Pedro Almodovar’s movie Matador, which is essentially a wild story about love, control, and freedom. To reflect this, we developed these earrings with local artisans in Bulgaria, where Kiril’s family is from, tapping into a not so well known history of craftsmanship. There, we tested various jewelry-making techniques, like forging, hammering, texturing, and dapping to create hollow or solid silver shapes. We are fascinated with the balance between strength and fragility, and tried to translate the intense themes of Almodovar’s film.
Therefore, a key feature of the “Matador” series is the choice of materials. If you decide to order this pair in 999 Fine Silver, please note that the higher the purity of the silver, the more fragile and malleable the earrings will be. This concept of fragility is actually something we love, and the first pair of this design we made was in 999 Fine Silver, still worn by Elina today.
Additionally, the biggest advantage of 925 and higher purity Silver jewelry is its durability and longevity. Unlike other types of jewelry that may tarnish or fade over time due to a smaller amount of silver and a larger amount of other metals with unknown origins, 925 Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals.
