Sterling Silver and Pearl Jewelry
We developed our handmade jewelry pieces with local artisans in Bulgaria, where Kiril’s family is from, tapping into a not so well known history of craftsmanship. There, we tested various jewelry-making methods, like forging, hammering, texturing, and dapping to create hollow or solid silver shapes. We are interested in traditional as well as contemporary jewelry making techniques.

A key feature of the “Matador” series is the choice of materials. If you decide to order this pair in 999 Fine Silver, please note that the higher the purity of the silver, the more fragile and malleable the earrings will be. This concept of fragility is actually something we love, and the first pair of this design we made was in 999 Fine Silver, still worn by Elina today.
In general, the biggest advantage of 925 and higher purity Silver jewelry is its durability and longevity. Other types of jewelry may tarnish or fade over time due to a smaller amount of pure silver and a larger amount of other metals with unknown origins. Whereas, 925 Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals. This composition ensures that the jewelry maintains its luster and structural integrity for a very long time. Moreover, 925 Sterling Silver is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for those with sensitive skin.
We make our 925 Sterling Silver and Pearl Earrings and Brooches to order. You can modify the changeable components in different configurations. For instance, you can customize them with a body of 18k solid Gold or solid 925 Sterling Silver cones/spikes and matching precious metal upper ball or a variety of pearls. Additionally, we can craft our jewelry in 999 Fine Silver upon request.
The Pearls
Cultured pearls come in several main varieties: Akoya, Tahitian, Freshwater, Saltwater, White and Golden South Seas, and Sea of Cortez pearls. Each type of pearl has unique characteristics, adding distinct character to jewelry.
Saltwater and freshwater pearls differ mainly in their implantation process. In saltwater oysters, pearl farmers implant the tissue and bead into the gonad of the mollusk, and then the mollusk forms a whole saltwater pearl around the nucleus. In freshwater mussels, they implant small pieces of tissue into the mantle of the mollusk. Culturing saltwater pearls usually results in the production of only one pearl per oyster.
Pearl Jewelry Care and Maintenance
Pearls are mainly made up of layers of Nacre (or Mother of Pearl). Therefore if they have regular contact with other hard surfaces, this can damage them over time. So we must be careful not to put them next to other hard objects. We advise you to store your pearls separately from your other jewelry. We think that the best way to store them is to use soft cloth bags or individual boxes (or our ceramic vases 😉. For more detailed information you can have a look at this article by Velmar.
